Preliminary Exercise

Music for film

We downloaded the background music for our film from freesound to avoid copyright issues.

We needed to find music/sounds that were linked to the genre of film we decided to make. Most of the music we have used is to create tension and to build an atmosphere and we believe that we have managed to do that effectively.

We open the film with a clip of music that features both violins and high pitched pianos heavily which is typical of the paranormal thriller genre, this type of music tends to give the audience chills and anticipates something that is going to happen later on the film. We have also used fast paced music in the stairs scene to portray the franticness of the scene and how panicked the main character appears to be. 

In the scene where the janitor appears in the background of the window we have used a very stereotypical paranormal sound just to emphasise the creepiness and enhance the film.
